Bachelor’s Degrees in Speech-Language Pathology Accredited by ASHA’s Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA)

You can take the first step toward a rewarding career in speech-language pathology by earning a bachelor’s degree in communicative sciences and disorders, speech-language pathology, or audiology through a quality program accredited by the ASHA-CAA (American Speech Language Hearing Association’s Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology).

Of course, a master’s degree is the minimum educational requirement to become licensed as an SLP, so you’ll need to be prepared to continue your education at the graduate level with a master’s or doctorate.

Un Undergraduate Degree Related to SLP Streamlines the Transition to Graduate Studies

While most accredited graduate programs admit students who do not possess a bachelor’s degree in SLP, a background in communicative disorders will give you everything you need to make a smooth and seamless transition into a graduate program.

Without a bachelor’s degree in the field, you’ll be required to take prerequisite courses (including phonetics, the anatomy and physiology of speech and hearing, common speech disorders, and the phonological analysis of speech) before beginning graduate level coursework. Of course, by earning an undergraduate degree related to SLP, you’ll cover these foundational courses and more.

CAA-Accredited Speech-Pathology Bachelor’s Programs by State

Schools throughout the country offer bachelor’s degrees in communicative sciences and disorders through programs that are offered online, partially online, and through traditional campus-based programs. These programs will allow you to gain clinical experience, learn the foundational principles of speech and hearing sciences, and prepare you for the graduate degree required to become nationally-certified and state-licensed.
